A Daily Discipline to Transform Your Nervous System

Rewire is not meant to be a crisis intervention tool; it’s a daily discipline. Our goal is to simply explain the body’s stress response system and encourage a practice of biofeedback-based self regulation—to recover from a crisis or a lifetime of unmanaged stress. For the average person, it takes 5–10 minutes of practice twice a day, using your own biofeedback, to learn about your body’s reaction to stress and practice the strategy of self-regulation, AKA the skill of responding not reacting to stress. For those of us who have experienced extreme stress over longer periods of time, this can take years, or even a lifetime.

Over time, with practice, the brain can rewire itself. In the past, my heart rate was stuck in high ranges for long periods of time. I frequently experienced migraines, chronic illness, GI issues, sleepless nights, severe neck pain, muscle spasms, panic attacks. I had low heart rate variability—meaning my heart was ‘stuck’ at a higher than normal rate and didn’t change much. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder in 2008. In 2020, I experienced repeated episodes of fainting. This neurologic condition has the medical term “vasovagal episodes” and is considered a condition of the nervous (neurologic) system. Ironically, dropping to the floor helped me wake up. I bought a heart rate monitor, completed my masters degree focused on the neurobiology of learning and healed myself. Rewire Builds on a Foundation of Care

You can’t rewire a medical condition or a lack for basic needs. With proper nutrition and a therapist or doctor, you can treat a medical condition and utilize the Rewire program to support a pathway to optimal health. I am fortunate to now have both medical care and basic needs met, but this wasn’t always the case. That’s why, for the Rewire program, these are the first mandatory steps. But beyond medical care there is a vast terrain that those of us managing our chronic health conditions must traverse. This requires a toolset of skills that Rewire teaches— a way forward— a way to retrain your nervous system and turn your autonomic reaction into a healthy response. Rewiring means when you need these skills the most, you will have them, no technology needed.

Practical Tools for Nervous System Regulation

Think of Rewire as your stress toolkit for life. When you need it, check in to our Masterclass series and listen to the experts talk, or go to the sight or sounds channel and experience the relaxation of sensory-based media. You will learn how the senses are the direct route to the part of your brain that controls stress. Using our heartbeat biofeedback tool, you can see with your own eyes how when we immerse ourselves in a sensory oasis, our stress response system resets calm. Our heartbeat biofeedback tool also supports the essential step of raising your heart rate through movement. Rewire’s touch/movement media channel includes a variety of ways to move your body, especially beneficially for those days when time is limited and/or going outside or to the gym is not an option.

Improve Heart Rate Variability 

I have developed this training after 5 years of personal practice and nearly a decade of research surrounding the impacts of early childhood trauma and the neurobiology of our stress response system. This simple, short daily routine has improved my heart rate variability by helping me get to know my heart through biofeedback.
